I usually tell you much more the hinterland than coast because of my poor attitude to the sea. This time the story takes us to one of the most beautiful beach of Le Marche: Mezzavalle.
In this post I will give you some tips to get there.
Mezzavalle is the first beach you meet from the north after leaving Ancona. It ‘a pebble beach with some stretch of sand scattered, rather long and narrow.
You can reach the beach only on foot or by sea. The route to take is not difficult, (we call it “Stradello”) will be less than 500 meters but the slope of the narrow road is notable that, although many are venturing in flip flops, I recommend a good pair of sneakers or robust sandals walking .
The car park is located just north of the rotunda of Portonovo. There are some free sites but you have to get there really early to find a place in the summer. However, parking is 4 EUR per day.
The beach is pebbles and is available even without the shoos for the rocks. There are no facilities like umbrellas and chairs but you can bring your own, because the beach is free. There is a restaurant and a bar, toilets and showers are free (and I recommend, especially the first, to use them!).
On the beach you will notice more or less complex structures of tents and shelters built by swimmers with trees and found materials (more or less) on site.
The rock of the beam to the left and the bay of Portonovo on the right are the natural settings in which this beautiful beach is inserted.
